If you aren’t already excited about Decorex this coming weekend, I’m sorry, but I have to ask, why not? if you’re sensible and you’re excited, then we’re proud of you. With seven halls dedicated to giving you the best interior design inspiration, Decorex is a show not to be missed. Here’s what you can expect to see:
Catch 100% Design South Africa running along-side Decorex
You can’t have your Batman without Robin, or yin without yang. Without 100% Design South Africa at the Decorex exhibition it just wouldn’t be the same. 100% Design South Africa is the only exhibition to showcase top local and international design. This year, according to Design News, visitors can expect to be greeted at their entrance with a display of vibrant hues brought to you by Plascon entitled 100% Colour. And another featured show to look forward to is the 100% Beautiful Things that will single out 100 South African products worth a closer look.
Try these simple furniture pieces on for size
According to their website, “Joe Paine is a product and furniture design label aiming at creating products that are inventive but simple.” Their collection of Pieces With More Than One Purpose, has been featured in the Visi Magazine design Feb/Mar issue. All pieces are designed with more than one purpose. Take this coffee table for instance, the top is removable for access to a storage space. The Johannesburg-based design-maker Joe Paine also incorporates plants and bird life into his designs. As the winner of the Elle Decoration International Award in 2008 for emerging designer of the year, he is definitely a force to be reckoned with.
