This gorgeous, contemporary home has big, glass stacking doors leading out onto a covered patio and attractive garden. The expanse of glass works well for this entertainment area because the view of outside is so pleasant. At the same time, the frosted glass doors act as attractive – yet understated – decorative pieces.
Frosted glass doors that let in ample natural light are a big trend in modern homes. They create a feeling of spaciousness and make the interior of your home bright and cheerful.
This client chose to frost a design in ‘positive’ on their glass stacking doors. In a ‘positive’ frosted design, most of the glass is left clear and only the motif or design is frosted. Designs like this one are usually intended primarily for decorative purposes.
There are a few reasons why this client chose to design their frosted glass doors in this way:
Firstly, they didn’t need privacy for this area because the high wall outside already provides enough privacy from their neighbours. This meant that they could happily leave most of the glass clear.
Secondly, they didn’t want to obscure the pleasant view of their garden from inside.
Thirdly, they wanted something decorative that would complement the interior and exterior décor style of their home. As they are obviously keen gardeners, who take great pride in their neat, manicured garden, the stately potted plant motif is a perfect fit.
Had glare been an issue in this room, they might have opted for more solid frosting. As it is, this client didn’t need to frost too much of the doors because there was no need to cut out glare. This is because the frosted glass doors lead onto a covered patio area, which provides some shade and shields the room from direct sunlight and glare.
