Why you need to get yourself to the Cape Town Homemakers Expo | WindowArt

If the Johannesburg Homemakers Expo is any indication of what’s in store for you, then you’re in for a treat at the Cape Town Homemakers exhibition. You can catch the expo this week on the 15-18 September at the CTICC, get your tickets here to secure your space. So, if you’ve been planning a home renovation for quite some time and you’re craving décor inspiration; here’s the show’s line-up that will achieve just that.

It’s the battle of the fittest

South Africa’s leading design specialists Marius Hitge and Misi Overturf are pitted head-to-head and tasked with the challenge of decorating the ultimate room using the finest sourced products. You get to choose your favourite between the two. R80 000 worth of furniture and décor products from both rooms are up for grabs for one lucky winner, so be sure to enter. Both designers had great fun designing their rooms according to the SA Décor blog. Overturf said she, “loved the creative aspect of it” and paid tribute to Hitge saying his “room was also inspired by the list of exciting suppliers.”

Treats to delight your taste buds

Clever wording aside, the d’vine Life Market gives you the opportunity to sample flavoursome gourmet treats, delicious Cape wine and craft beer. You can also visit the Coffee Lover’s Theatre to taste the finest coffee and bear witness to a barista showdown that will be judged on taste and art, check out the programme here.

Live by design

If you attend the Homemakers Expo, you will get to bear witness a line-up of irresistible interiors and elegantly crafted décor by professional design companies. Some of which include : lighting specialists Ambiente Luce, take a look at this featured chandelier that looks like it belongs in a café. In’awe wants you to “drop your jaw in respect of design,” and we can’t help but oblige after scanning their website. This textured reclaimed coffee table cut in the shape of the African map stood out for me.

Jan Jax Interiors design and manufacture smaller pieces of furniture often from recycled materials. They have an ocean vibe about them, particularly with regard to their popular rope-strung ottomans. You can also check out Barry Dale Handweavers that produce beautiful handwoven rugs, carpets, tablecloths and clothing. To see who else will be there please see the Homemakers website.

DIY Tips and tricks

You can watch live demos by the Home Tuis team showcasing how to create coffee cocktails, latte art, sweet and savoury tarts, a keyhole stool, upside-down Manhattan side table and a puzzle-piece chopping board. Guests will receive a goodie bag filled with surprises such as Olive Pride olive oil.  Seats are limited so get there early.
