- Window film
The installation we have showcased in the image above is of a residential home with window film installed on a staircase window. This house overlooks a busy main road in the suburb and the owners were after a window treatment that would offer privacy and look sophisticated, especially because the window is visible to all passersby.
The owners considered having blinds custom-made to fit this staircase window, but it would have proved a costly and tiresome affair.
The window is not a standard size. Therefore, installing curtains or blinds would require a custom-made installation of either window treatment. By choosing window film as the window treatment, the owners were able to choose a simple design and in one short afternoon have the treatment installed. Window film can be cut to any size dimensions, making it an ideal choice of window treatment for atypically-sized glass panes.
The window film is protective and beneficial to this home.
The window film protects the owner’s privacy entirely, as it is in no way transparent. When the lights are switched on in the evening, the frosted window film remains opaque and even if it gets wet it remains cloudy. Furthermore, the window film blocks out harmful UV rays, allows for 93% natural light to spill through and insulates the home.
The window film ensures that the stairwell remains well lit and not in need of additional artificial lighting.
As mentioned, the window is situated on the staircase. If the owners were to choose blinds or curtains as their window treatments, the area would be darkened. Because of the ability of window film to allow for natural light to penetrate through to the interior, the stairwell is well lit.
