One of our clients recently decided to use window frosting to increase the privacy of one of their office meeting rooms. This was a great choice as it allowed the client to do something a little different.
Besides the usual in-house meetings that this room accommodates, the client also frequently holds meeting with outside visitors here. Meetings – especially big ones – can be noisy and disruptive for the rest of the staff. Being able to watch the proceedings through the glass can add to the distracting nature. In addition, some meetings require displaying sensitive information and data on big screens, projectors or white boards. The client felt that it was necessary to make this meeting room more private so that sensitive information could be displayed and discussed discreetly.
Instead of simply installing a plain sheet of window frosting film, however, the client decided to use the opportunity to do some creative in-house branding. We used window frosting to emblazon the words that embody the company’s corporate ethos and values on the meeting room wall. This was easily done by cutting the words out of the window frosting vinyl. The transparent words stand out strikingly against the opaque window frosting.
This branding is directed at both company staff and outside visitors. Words like ‘integrity’, ‘innovation’ and ‘passion’ communicate the core values of the company to visitors. At the same time, they act as motivational and uplifting reminders to the staff.
Because ensuring a relatively high level of privacy was important for this room, the words couldn’t be too large. Allowing too much of the pane to be transparent would have made it too easy for people to see into the room.
Our favourite element of this window frosting installation is the textured look of the bottom edge, including the feathers. This is an attractive finish that gives this installation a pleasantly natural feel.
