Decorative frosted vinyl decal replaces glass sandblasting | WindowArt

This frosted vinyl decal is a perfect example of how frosted window vinyl can be both functional and decorative.

Because there is only a fence – not a solid wall – standing between this window and the adjacent busy road, motorists and passers-by were able to easily look in through the window. Nobody likes to have a parade of strangers peering into their home, so the occupants of this house decided to block outsiders’ view by applying frosted window film to the window.

While the residents liked the frosted, opaque look of glass sandblasting, they realised that traditional glass sandblasting was not an option for them. This is because the home is a rented property. For this reason, the tenants didn’t want to permanently alter the state of the glass lest they be asked to replace the windowpane when they move out.

Frosted window film provides a risk-free alternative to glass sandblasting, so the tenants opted to install this decorative vinyl decal in place of traditional glass sandblasting. Although top quality frosted window vinyl comes with a 10-year warranty, it can be removed. Because the application and removal of window vinyl doesn’t damage glass, it is an ideal window covering for use in rented or temporary homes or offices.

This particular decal design provides a very high level of privacy because most of the windowpane has been frosted. However, instead of simply frosting the entire windowpane, the tenants chose to design a decal that would add a touch of creativity to the home. Putting a butterfly in each corner transformed what would have been a plain frosted window into a charming décor element. We especially love how the eye is irresistibly drawn to the minute details used in the butterfly design.
